Avignon and the papal palace

The installation of the Popes made Avignon the capital of the medieval West in the 15th century; it remained papal territory until the Revolution.
The Pont d’Avignon, the Palais des Papes, the Rocher des Doms, the ramparts and the old center with its churches and collegiate churches, its cardinal liveries and all the museums are an invitation to rediscover this city and its prestigious past. In July, the famous Avignon festival makes the city an unmissable cultural center.
